The West 104th Street Garden hosts a number of events throughout the year for garden members and the community, including seasonal festivals, Mothers Day plant sale, potlucks and flea markets. We also host special events including the West Park Montessori's preschool graduation and Make Music NY. 2012 Events

Harvest Festival

Our harvest was celebrated Sunday, Oct. 28th. From 1 to 4 pm. We had games, food, music and prizes. We count with you and your family presence to make of this event a successful one.

Also, the organizers thank everyone for their generous contributions to the, drinks, prizes, and your time to help supervising one of the multiple activities

2nd Summer Flea Market

Our last Flea Market of the season was held on September 14th from 11am-6pm in the West 104th Street Community Garden and featured a great bazaar of vintage clothing, toys, bric-a-brac, and whatever else your imagination brings.

Labor Day Picnic

Our annual pot luck Labor Day Picnic was held on September 3. Thanks to all who came!

Compost Tea Party

On Sunday, July 22nd! The compost committee held a Compost Tea Party. The committee just harvested its first load of compost of 2012, thanks to all your contributions! The party featured demos of how to make your own compost tea, and short talks about its benefits.

It was a real celebration, with tea time refreshments using some of the garden's plants.

Peach Pickin' Time

Garden members came out Monday, 7/16, to participate in our annual peach picking activity in the East Garden! An estimated 35-40 pounds of peaches were picked with enough unripe fruit left on the tree to ensure a second picking later in July or August. Stay tuned for the next peach picking date.

Summer Flea Market

Our second Flea Market was held on July 14th from 11am-6pm in the West 104th Street Community Garden. The flea market features a great bazaar of vintage clothing, toys, bric-a-brac, and whatever else your imagination brings.

Fourth of July BBQ!

The annual Fourth of July BBQ was held on Wednesday, July 4 from 1-4pm. New and old members mingled, grilled and sampled various meats and sauces and salads, including Sumana's mixed greens with dill, chives, basil and mint from the Herb Garden. New members Ron and Karen Whitlach brought a lovely selection of Argentinian wines and Minerva and Florice brought various home brewed teas and fruit punches. While the adults chatted, children swam in wading pools, watered plants and hunted for snails. Happy Birthday, USA!

Make Music New York

The 2012 Make Music New York festival was held on Thursday, June 21st. Despite the 100+ degree heat, many spectators showed up to see five acts perform in our gazebo, including a klezmer violinist, a gypsy jazz guitarist, a children's chorus, a songwriter/pianist and an electronica guitarist featuring two dancers. Thanks to all who braved the weather in support of local music.

Spring Flea Market

Our Annual Garden Flea Market was held on Saturday May 5. We were blessed with beautiful weather after many days of rain and filled the garden with many wonderful vendor tables, the largest vendor turnout in many years, selling clothes, books, games, knick-knacks, food, flowers, and much more!

Opening Potluck

The first meeting of the 2012 season for the West 104 Garden was held on Sunday, March 18, at the Schneider Houses, 17 West 102nd Street, from 12 to 3 pm. Time to catch up with gardeners you haven't seen for a couple of months and think happy thoughts about the warm months to come.
